Bio
Hector Santizo was born in Guatemala in 1970. His interest in art was
inspired by the beauty of his country and its history. His most vivid
memory is of the aged colorful doors that lined the street of his hometown.
He values the experience of growing up in a place where finding beauty
in everyday objects has given him the vision to translate image, texture,
color and a sense of time and place into his art.
The work takes the opportunity to translate objects that we see everyday
and take for granted as part of our visual landscape into objects of
art.
He creates work that is inspired by his interest in the changing world
of today.
His wire series reflects his understanding of the shifting nature of
our technologies and how these telephone wires will eventually become
relics of the past. The dominant theme in his work is communication.
His technique relies on a multi-layered approach using photography as
a base and then translating images onto canvas.
He has exhibited his work in galleries throughout Los Angeles.
In addition, Hector’s works are in numerous private collections
and business spaces.
A master of several mediums, including acrylic painting, illustration,
photography and multiple printmaking processes, Hector matches a tangible
sense of space with sensuous color and lines in each work.
Hector lives in Pasadena, California
